PEP TALK January 2012

FAMILY NEWS

January 7, 2012 was a beautiful, sunny day for the wedding of John and Janine Chilufya at West Cannon Baptist Church in Belmont Michigan. The ceremony was at 10am allowing John's family in Zambia to watch via the internet as it took place. You too can watch it online at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jchilufya. You will enjoy an interesting blend of Zambian and American customs.

John intends to complete his application with Baptist Mid-Missions through his doctrinal examination in March and participation in Candidate Seminar this summer. The couple will reside in Grand Rapids Michigan while John continues through the immigration process and they also increase their support for returning to Zambia.

PRAISE THE LORD WITH US

  • PRAISE THE LORD for answering your prayers about the wedding of our daughter Janine and her fiance John Chilufya in Michigan on January 7. It was a delightful wedding, which blended certain acceptable Zambian traditions with our American wedding traditions. We are thrilled to welcome John into the family! John will complete the final steps in his application to Baptist Mid-Missions, so that he and Janine can return eventually to Zambia together as full-time missionaries.

    PLEASE PRAY FOR US

  • PRAY for a fruitful PEP ministry trip to the BAHAMAS February 2-15. Larry and Pastor Maynard Belt (accompanied by Sallie and Maynard's wife Ann) will team-teach a week-long module course to about fifty pastors and church leaders on the island of Andros. They will teach about thirty hours on the subject of "The True Disciple." This is a large island but poorly developed and sparsely populated. The churches are small and struggle with many problems. There are several excellent pastors, but generally the Christians on this island have been poorly taught. The seminar we taught there last year proved their hunger to learn, and was the precursor of an informal Bible Institute to train the church leaders. This could be the launch!

  • PRAY for details being negotiated for Larry's next ministry trips to CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC and CHAD April 12 - May 15, and to HAITI May 25 - June 11. Pray especially for completion in time of the French translation of Larry's teaching notes for the "Church Administration" course Larry has been asked to teach in HAITI.
